I’ve for many years found meditation esoteric and perhaps a bit weird due to the pseudo-religious aspects that some people combine with it. Combining meditation and religion seem like malpractice to me, I’d much rather think of it as a tool everyone could use for viewing the processes and services that are running in your personal OS.
Some guy on the internet put it pretty well in my opinion:
It’s [meditation] like running
htopon your brain to find the runaway background processes that are consuming all your processing power.1
Nothing more, nothing less. It is however a shitty version of htop which does not show you all the processes on your first execution of it. Instead, you have to execute the damn thing multiple times to discover all the processes running.
But much like htop you better not kill some important process. That would suck, as without knowledge of how to restart the process you have to do a full reboot which takes time. And downtime sucks.2
